Working in bed - or wherever I want

Lots of good things have come together to make it possible for me to work in any room of my house. I suppose I could even work outside. I know I can work on the balcony, as I’ve already tried that. I just don’t know how far that I can go. Can I sit on the swing under the pecan tree? I’m not sure yet. Can I put a blanket or a chair out front and hang out in the front yard with Lucky and the kids? I’m not sure yet. I do know, however, that I can now work in bed, which makes me so happy. It would be so awesome if I had one of those adjustable platform beds! I’m getting sick of leaning up against the wall, but, I shall not complain about my newfound computer mobility.

Here’s the good and groovy chain of events that made all of this happen, though…

  1. First, my sweet Daddy gifted me with a new laptop, which I stupidly thought was a Dell. He has frequently bought Dells, so I think I just assumed it was a Dell. It is, however, a Lenovo ThinkPad. And I think I love it. Heh! Thanks, Daddy!

  2. Secondly, my sweet friend, Amy - asked her husband, Rob, if he had an extra router for me, as mine was pitifully incompetent. He did - she sent. They rock. I’m now the proud new owner of a Linksys Router. Thanks, guys!
  3. Thirdly, my friend, John P., told me about this super-mega-cool program called FolderShare, through which my two computers (my desktop and my new ThinkPad) can communicate with each other. So if I need access to any files on my harddrive while I’m blogging, it’s no problem! Totally awesome!

Sometimes the universe all comes together for us in such splendid ways, don’t you think?

Now if I could get someone to pay this darn electric bill - I think I’ll never catch up with Alabama Power! Where is my sugar daddy when I need him? Haha!

Lucy sent us a Christmas card

I know you guys remember my talking about Lucy, my sweet little Chihuahua sister. She lives in Dallas, with my mom. Duh. Otherwise, why would I have a Chihuahua for a sister?! Haha! Isn’t she pretty, though?
Well, the little darling has gone and sent us a Christmas card. I know, for a fact, that this will thrill my big, tough redneck man. He loves little dogs. Loves them.

I am, as well, duly thrilled. The darn card is so cute, I can’t even stand it! How lucky for Lucy (sounds like a song, eh?) that she was able to find a festive holiday card with none other than a Chihuahua on the front!

Aww…how cool is that? And it is just a painting, no Chihuahua’s necks were put under undue strain for our holiday enjoyment!

I just think it was terribly thoughtful of Lucy (and Momma) to send us a card.

I need to buy gifts for them - I wonder, if I got Momma a wine of the month club membership, do you think I should get Lucy a ‘kibble of the month’ club membership? ;)

I’m gonna have to Skype my momma so I can video chat with my sweet “Lucita”!

Delicious Ferrero Rondnoir

I recently had the opportunity to try a new chocolate delight from the Ferrero Chocolate people. It is the company’s first dark chocolate treat and it is called Ferrero Rondnoir.

It had to have been the most interesting chocolate candy I’ve ever tried. What made it so interesting? The layers! Layers and layers of different tastes and textures. It was so delicious.

Let me see if I can get this straight - first you have the little tiny pieces of chocolate on the outside, then comes the wafer, after that is my favorite part - the soft, creamy chocolate - and in the very middle is a regular piece of yummy dark, delicious chocolate! It was so yummy!

You can read all about it here: Ferrero Chocolate. First click on ‘Ferrero Rondnoir’ and then, to see all of the delectable layers, click on ‘Experience Rondnoir’.

And a really cool thing about the company is that they’ve paired up with Share Our Strength in the Share Something Sweet project. They are working to end child hunger in the United States, and you can help to support them by going to their site, and send a personalized snow globe e-card to someone you love! I sent one to my mother, who was really impressed that the chocolate company was working to end hunger! We both think that rocks!

My Shawn, My Goblin

Shawn tried out for the school play yesterday - and today he found out that he made it! The play they are doing is:

The Hobbit

I’m so excited! And he seems really excited about it, too! I love - no, I absolutely love, the theater. And none of my children have been involved with the theater as of yet. I would never push them, but, I sure would love it if one of them really got a taste for it, like I have! I would love that so much! We’ll see - Shawn is going to get a taste of it, that’s for sure. And we’ll see how much, or even if, he likes it. He is very happy about it right now.

I was telling some of my friends that he was so shy about having made it, that when I told him, “Congratulations!” when he got home, he couldn’t even say, “Thank you!” He just grinned sheepishly.

He got the part of a goblin, and he is understudy to Bopher. I’m not sure if I got that name right or not. Or, I’m not sure if I got the spelling right, actually. I know I got the name right, because, I kept saying to him, “Gopher? Who? Gopher?” Haha! And then he corrected me, so I think from here on out, when trying to remember it, I’ll have this conversation in my head, “Gopher? No, it sounds like Gopher. Oh yeah! Bopher!”

My boy, the thespian. Ahhh, mama’s happy tonight.

Mystery Faces on MyBlogLog

Why are we seeing so much more of this guy lately?

I don’t know about you guys, but, in the last several days, I have noticed a LOT more of ‘him’ on the MyBlogLog widgets. I wonder if they’re having a new member campaign of some kind.

I suppose I could head over to MyBlogLog and snoop around and see what I find out, but, I thought I’d ask you guys first - in my utter laziness….

Hahaha!

Animal Cruelty is a Serious Crime

And it is time that more people, and our laws, recognize that! One thing that will help towards this end is signing into law the Tracking Animal Cruelty Crimes Act of 2007. I received the above action alert in my email this afternoon from the American Humane Society, and I have since sent off the letter to my senators, asking them to support this bill. I urge you to do the same. You can do so right here: American Humane Society Action Alert.

Thank you, sweet readers!

The bad*ss Bose headphones are mine!

Mine, I tell you, they’re all mine! Mua Ha Ha Ha I won them - I’m so excited! I won them from one of my very favorite blogs, One Man’s Blog, written by John Pozadzides. I actually won them from his October contest, so he’s a bit late - but, seeing as I won - he can take his sweet time! Winking 2

I was completely tickled pink to see my name declared in the headline of the post! It reads, Lisa Marie Mary Wins the Bose Headphones! I was so not expecting that when I opened up my daily update email this morning!

The headphones I’ve won are the Bose On-Ear Headphones and they will go perfectly with my new ThinkPad! I’m totally pumped!

Here’s a picture of my totally cool new headphones:

I’ll take a picture of them on my head when I get them! I know you’re all on the edge of your seats waiting for that! And I’ll, of course, review them for you here on this blog.

Thank you, John, thank you - a million times - thank you!!!

Now ya’ll head over to OneMansBlog.com and check it out! John is a wealth of helpful information and a lot of fun, too! You’ll see, really - I spent my entire weekend there playing the latest game he’s posted! Ha!

The monsters shall descend upon the castle…

….in less than ten minutes! Oh, what am I to do? About this time of day, I start to feel so Yawn 7. I’m literally at my worst for dealing with the bombardment of noisy, ornery children.

They will most likely fight Fighting Over Sweets with each other!

I know they often dream of Blowing Up each other!

Oh no! I hear their carriage now! schoolbus.gif Help!

I can see in their Evil Eyes that they long to put me in the Electric Chair when I ask them to do the dishes, or feed the dog, or GOD FORBID - take out the trash!

They are here - two of the Monster Monster have breached the outer wall. There is another Monster coming soon, too.

And I’ve already had two complaints from one of them. Now that one is audibly upset with me. Melodramatic 2 Shall I hide? Shall I run away? Will one of you come pick me up?

They will soon be Poking each other and Pulling Faces at each other! There might even be Dynamite 2 involved!

Somebody call me a cab!!!!!

No more horse slaughtering in the US!!

I am so happy! I had no idea that we were so close to getting rid of this awful practice! When I opened up my newsletter from The American Human Society this afternoon, I read the most glorious sentence:

Horse slaughter was finally eliminated on U.S. soil when Texas and Illinois shut down the last remaining slaughterhouses in the nation.

That is so awesome! I’m completely thrilled!

Along with the newsletter, they also sent a video of the year’s accomplishments (including getting rid of horse slaughtering) and I’ve got it right here for you to watch!

Grandfather clock and a fountain combined!

You have got to see this grandfather clock that is also a fountain! It is so gorgeous! I’ve always loved grandfather clocks and I’ve always wanted one, but, I’ve never seen one that is a fountain, too! That is just cool! It’s very modernly made with slate and copper and it’s so amazing! We are planning a major remodel to the living areas of our house, and I think we would have a perfect place for it in the corner of the dining area, next to the fireplace. It would look so nice there!

I completely love this clock, I can’t stop looking at it. I think the rich colors of the slate are really pulling me in. The water runs all the way down the front of the clock to the base, in which there are ornamental rocks, and also a soft light that illuminates the tower. It would be so nice to get up in the middle of the night for a drink of water and pass this lovely, soothing clock with the water flowing and the light glowing…I can totally picture that - just lovely!

It will be great when we can finally get busy on our remodel and start making this house our own beautiful creation. Obviously, we can’t create it - it’s already been made, I just mean, make it our own, you know? One of the big things we are going to do is tear down the wall between the living room and dining room and make it into one big Great Room. That is going to be so nice - it is going to open it up so much in here and make the place not feel so small. And then I can start looking at grandfather clocks and I know just where to look!

1-800-4clocks.com has got every clock under the sun - it is the perfect place for me to look! And they have a great blog, too! I love it when companies have blogs, and not just blogs, but, good blogs - blogs that are helpful and informative and let you get to know the company better! I learned something on their blog tonight, that I had wondered about, but, just had not bothered to research myself. Their post, Grandfather Clocks and Daylight Savings Time - A Change in Times informed me as to why the time change changed like it did this year. That was such a pain to me, because, at the time I was still using Windows ME, and there was no patch for ME. It’s really interesting what they said about the candy lobby possibly being responsible. It definitely makes you wonder, that’s for sure!
